If you take two instances of the Fibonacci sequence and make a matrix of them you get this surface of amazing symmetries, contractions, expansions and coils. I am not a mathematician, so I don’t know what this means but I have used it many times in my drawings and time series.

For me it is only an exercise in the beauty of the arbitrary and the (in)adequacy of rules. Here are some of the notes.
